This week I’m on vacation in Holderness, New Hampshire, USA. I thought about taking a break from The Merry Mystic while I’m traveling, but I couldn’t resist the chance to share one of my favorite places on earth with you. This is Squam Lake, where I learned to swim when I was a boy. It is a thin place for mea place where the veil between the physical world and the spirit world seems especially thin. Or is it just me?

What are the thin places in your life?
Adam, this piece was especially moving for me. I’ve played it four times so far! First of all, I had a vital experience of a thin place four years ago floating on my back in a local river. I could never find the adequate words to tell about it, though I tried to express it. Your words have helped. Of course! It was a thin place! I knew it as a complete letting go and a place of joy, but I also knew that it was spiritual.
Also, you have given me something new to ponder. That idea that we “are” thin places. Wow, what a concept! Maybe you’ll put this to music some day(?) Anyway, thank you.

Greetings fellow traveler. We (our two families) really need to get together sometime. But, independent of them, I wish that you and I had more opportunity to commune. My experiences with the Lakota people during our stay on the reservation added such a new and fresh dimension to my Christian faith… new understandings of the word and deeds of that indigenous mystic who walked the earth two thousand years ago, and travels with us today.
Thanks, Keith. I hope our paths will cross again soon.
