I’ve written a choral piece called “Viriditas,” and in this video I introduce it and sing a little sample while sitting in a cornfield. Viriditas was a favorite word of one of my favorite Christian mystics, Hildegard of Bingen. In Latin, it just means greenness, but for Hildegard it meant much more than that.
Sheet music for “Viriditas” is available in our Free Stuff area. If you get a group together and perform it, please let me know. Send me a video, and I’ll put it up here for all us Merry Mystics to enjoy.
Love her, loved this. Thank you, KatieD
Thanks, Katie. Glad you enjoyed it!
Monsoon season has started here in New Mexico, bringing blessings to the land in the form of heavy rains… sometimes a little too many and heavy blessings solidified in the form of hail…
But it is without doubt the most joyous time of the year here in the high desert as plants that seemed nothing but brittle twigs a few weeks ago suddenly spring to life and burst into ecstatic bloom. Viriditas! Viriditas! The work of The Word is the greening.
I wish you joy of the season, brother. Wish I could see it!
