In this week’s installment of The Merry Mystic, I share a new hymn about the earth. It’s upbeat and lively, with a simple refrain.
There are two of my scores for “The Harmony of the Incredible Earth” available in the Free Stuff area: one with hymn parts and one with a piano accompaniment. (You’ll need the password for the free stuff. If you don’t have that password, you can get it by subscribing to my weekly letter, The Merry Mystic. Please do: it’s free, and if it doesn’t suit you, you can always unsubscribe.)
In the video, I also discuss the choral arrangement made by Michael Monroe, music minister at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, Massachusetts, USA. He’s made his score and practice recordings available on his web site. Thanks, Michael!
Best blessings,
Adam
THank you for this song. It is one i can share with my pagan daughter.
Thanks, Nan. I once spent a very interesting long weekend at a Wiccan event. Maybe I’ll share the story in a Merry Mystic missive some day. A fascinating bunch of people … and doing an impressive job of caring for each other …
Great song, Adam! It made me happily sway back and forth in my chair as I listened. And how wonderful that an arrangement of this hymn will soon be sung during an interfaith Thanksgiving service. : )
Whether one sees the Earth as a creation of “God” or as an incredibly random mix of star dust, gases, and gravity, there will always be one point upon which we humans can agree: our planet, and all life upon it, is a beautiful, beautiful miracle within our super-humongous Universe. May we, as a species, come to celebrate that fact with all our hearts, just as you have done, Adam, within this hymn. Thanks for the injection of joy, bro’! I’m beaming that joy right back at ‘cha… Shelley B.
